Pastor Chuck’s Corner: June 2025
The steadfast love of God never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23 NRSV)
Ready or not; here comes June! The end of the school year is quickly approaching and along with it comes vacation time. Wherever life leads you during the upcoming summer months, I pray it is a time of laughter with a fair amount of relaxation thrown in. Be ready to enjoy, because we all know how quickly the warm days will pass by.
Those who plant flowers and vegetables are aware of the shortness of the growing season. The corn will be “knee high by the 4th of July” in a flash.
One season that never ends is the season of God’s love for all. Please re-read the verses at the top. God’s love is not contained in a season, nor is God’s faithfulness hindered by any time constraints. God’s mercy is new every day.
With that in mind, I ask you all to stay aware that the summer months are for your growth as well. The warm weather usually brings a drop in church attendance as folks go on their travels and other recreational activities. I certainly have nothing against anyone who takes the time to have some vacation time.
What I would ask, however, is that you bear in mind that the summer time is a growing season for you as well. Take the time to be intentional about remembering the goodness of God all around you.
A family on a camping trip might find time around the fire to be a great time to pray together, for example. Perhaps re-telling the stories of the heroes of the Old Testament might interest a bored child. Use your imagination, there are so many ways to keep God alive in your hearts even when you are away for your local church.
Also, we have re-activated St. Mark’s You Tube channel, making it possible for you to still join live worship should you desire or watch it later at a more convenient time. I am grateful for the diligence of Paul Dreher-Wiberg and our Tech Team for working through the audio glitches to make the on-line worship setting almost as good as being here in person!
Remember, the season for growing your faith has no limit. Stay engaged no matter where you find yourself this summer for no matter where that is, God will be there too.
Be blessed and be a blessing,
Pastor Chuck
