Council Corner: June 2025
Council members continue to focus our time together around the scripture from Isaiah 43: 18-19.“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
This month’s discussion led us to the idea that perhaps God’s newness for us isn’t in the wilderness and wastelands at this time…perhaps it’s in what’s already here at St. Mark’s. This led to the topic of abundance. What do we, at St. Mark’s, have in abundance? We’d love to hear your answers to that question. Speak with any council member or Pastor.
One item all members agreed on was that we are missing the fellowship events that used to occur on a regular basis. If we’re missing them, we’re thinking you may be too! We don’t currently have a committee to organize events that not only brings our St. Mark’s community together, but events where our surrounding community is invited to join us. Council will be sponsoring a “Welcome to Summer” picnic on Sunday, June 29th immediately following worship. More information on this fellowship event is forth coming. Discussion and research is being done to get a second fellowship event on the calendar that would be an invitation to all.
If you would like to help breathe some newness into our fellowship committee, we’d surely appreciate it. Please speak with Pastor about what that entails.
We were also presented with some samples of some new St. Mark’s swag…thank you to Lea Ann and Kristi! Look for your opportunity to buy a T-shirt, sweatshirt, and/or tote bag with our logo.
There will not be a council meeting in July. We’ll be back at it on August 20th.
We are so very grateful for all the members of St. Mark’s and for all you do to make God’s mission in the world possible.
