Director of Music Ministry
Joshua Symborski's musical talents have transcended borders, enthralling audiences in more than 10 countries. As a distinguished member of the U.S. Army Band, he recorded trumpet for the Netflix movie "Fort Bliss," performed with Ruben Studdard of American Idol, set a world record trumpet fanfare with Doc Severinsen of The Tonight Show, and played lead trumpet with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra on national television. His versatile talent also led him to act in the Lifetime TV series "Coming Home."
Joshua continues to make his mark in the music world, currently performing with the Cortland Repertory Theatre, Silver Arrow Band, Papa Muse, and the Second Line Syracuse (New Orleans' Style) Brass Band. He recently performed at a Royal Gala at the Oncenter with Crissy Collins, renowned for her work as Beyonce's former background singer and an actress at Tyler Perry Studios. Joshua's passion for music extends to his role as the leader of Syracuse Music and as "Master Instructor" at Music & Arts in Clay, NY, where he is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians in the Central New York community.
Beyond his professional achievements, Joshua has found a profound connection with St. Mark's, where he serves as the current Music Director and Organist. His role at St. Mark's is more than just a position-it's a calling that allows him to blend his deep faith with his passion for music. He has already been warmly embraced by the St. Mark's community and is eager to contribute to its spiritual life, bringing his unique musical talents to enhance worship services and foster a deeper sense of togetherness through music. Joshua looks forward to growing alongside this beautiful community, creating meaningful and uplifting experiences that resonate with the church's mission and values.
I am Connie Ward and began working at St Mark's on Wednesday June 19th with a very welcoming and responsive community. My background is varied, at one point I was a Cardiopulmonary tech, EMT 3, Restaurant manager/District manager, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Claims Examiner and Claims Supervisor. I have a BS in Psychology from Syracuse University and a BA in Accounting from Eastern Washington University.
I have lived in New York, California and Washington State but moved back to Fulton, NY in 2005 to be with my aging parents for their final years with us. I retired 1/1/22 at which time I started traveling, Florida, Hilton Head, 2 month road trip across country and back (9,000 miles/20 states) and a trip to Ireland so far. Wintering in Florida has become a favorite way to avoid snow and cold. In September of 2026 I will be traveling to Portugal. My sister and cousin are favorite traveling companions.
I was baptized in the Bowen's Corner United Methodist Church and as a child/teenager attended church and church school at First Congregational Church in Fulton, NY. Lastly I am blessed to have Pastor Chuck and Betsy as neighbors!
