Council Corner: September 2024
After taking a month hiatus from a July meeting, Council members got right back at the business of the church in August. We heard from Greg Lamb, who has volunteered to breathe new life into our Stewardship Ministry. He and his team have great plans for delivering a year-round stewardship message. Part of their focus will be to lift up opportunities for each of us to share our gifts of time, talents, and resources.
All 3 phases of our HVAC project have been completed and, after a few minor glitches, the system is working nicely.
We received a written report from our Audit Committee for the 2023 year. Council members will take this next month to read about the recommendations made so that we may act on them in the near future. At our September meeting, there will be more discussion on how to move forward with this information.
We heard from Team Quimby who has a plan to offer all kinds of opportunities for Faith Formation for our youth and to do some intergenerational relationship building. See how you can help by taking a look at the table outside the office in the Gathering Room.
Council would very much like to present a Narrative Budget to the congregation again this year. If you have photos of events from this past year, please share them. If you’d like to be involved in telling the story of what God is doing with our offering, please see me.
For the next few months Council will be deep in discussions about our 2025 budget. Committees are already working on submitting what is needed to do God’s Work with Our Hands. We’ll be looking at and prayerfully considering the financial commitments necessary for St. Mark’s to be and do what God calls us to be and do.
For several reasons we’ve been required to reschedule/add upcoming Council meetings. Please take note of these new meeting dates (all at 7pm)….September 25, October 16 & 23, November 20, and December 11. Mark your calendars now for our Annual Meeting to be held on Sunday, November 25th immediately following worship.
If you don’t already pray for your Council members, please add them during this time of big decisions that mean so much to so many.
