Pastor Chuck’s Corner: September 2025
“The grass withers and the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever.”
As it seems to do every year, the summer season goes by the fastest. Though the calendar will say
it lasts until September 22ⁿᵈ, for the most part we know that summer ends at Labor Day.
O, there will still be some warm days and pleasant evenings, but after Labor Day means back to
school, back to work for some or maybe just back from a nice long vacation. In other words, back to
routine.
Now I don’t think routine is a bad thing. There is a certain amount of comfort in knowing the
‘when’ and ‘what’ of the coming week or month. I am usually most at ease when I am doing the things I am familiar with as they come up in each season.
The church year runs along seasonal lines too. Officially, we are currently in the long season of
“Sundays after Pentecost.” But in keeping with the calendar at your home, St. Mark’s is also
beginning its Fall programs as well. Faith Formation and Adult small group learning begins on
September 7ᵗʰ (a big THANK YOU to Team Quimby and Betsy Copps for facilitating these classes and programs).
As we recognize the coming of a new season all around us, please take a moment to thank God that
amidst all the change that goes on, God is constant. The verse from Isaiah at the top captures this
idea. God’s truth found in the Scriptures and as evidenced in the heart of the various ministries
of St. Mark’s is a constant thing.
Join with me in rejoicing for this awesome fact. God, who is always faithful, as promised to never
leave nor forsake us and to walk beside us always.
As you ponder the wonderful nature of our loving God, please keep your ears, eyes and heart open to whatever new thing God has in store for you in this new season. And please pray for St. Mark’s,
that this church can be ever more willing to serve each other and our community.
Be blessed and be a blessing,
Pastor Chuck
