Pastor Chuck’s Corner: July 2026

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 NIV)

The calendar ha

s turned to July and it seems like the cold of Winter and Spring are finally behind us. It is time once again for gardening, golf and whatever outdoor activities you might enjoy. Let’s all soak up as much natural Vitamin D that we can!

Now that it is July many folks find the next several months the ideal time for family vacations. It is an opportunity to see some of the sights beyond what we are accustomed to. Perhaps it may even be a short weekend camping trip for a change of scenery.

Whatever the case may be, and if we were to be honest with ourselves, living through the long winter while meeting all the demands of family and work life may leave you feeling desperate to get away; to leave the packed schedule of demands on your time all behind. For many, describing yourself as desperate for time away is not too strong a word as it accurately describes your feelings. Desperation was the topic of several of my sermons in June. I cited several biblical examples of women and men whose dire circumstances drove them in desperation to seek relief from God. Many, if not all of us have experienced this kind of desperation in our own lives. Blessedly, God never leaves nor forsakes us so that even in our most trying times, we can always count on the Lord being with us.

As further encouragement, during that sermon series I tried to convey another very important point: God is desperate for us as well! The Scriptures give us countless examples of how God pursues us. Grace is continually poured out in hopes of drawing us ever nearer to God.

There is no greater example of this than in what I have quoted at the top. That foundational verse tells us all we need to know: God loves us so much, that even in our sinful condition, God sends Jesus to take our place so that we can be forgiven of all our sins. That is godly desperation!

Dear ones, no matter what the summer months have in store for you, please keep a place in your heart that is still desperate for God and remember, God is just as desperate for you.

Be blessed and be a blessing,

Pastor Chuck
