Council Corner: March 2026
As we move through the Lenten season, our congregation is invited again into a steady rhythm of prayer, reflection, and renewal. Lent calls us to slow down, listen more closely for God’s voice, and practice tangible care for our neighbors. I’m grateful for the many ways St. Mark’s continues to show up—quietly, faithfully, and generously—especially in this season of repentance and hope.
Lenten Season Focus
● Spiritual renewal: Lent gives us space to realign our priorities and deepen our walk with Christ—both individually and as a church community.
● Community care: This season reminds us that our faith is lived out through compassion, presence, and service.
● Gratitude for participation: Thank you to everyone supporting worship life, midweek opportunities, and the “behind-the-scenes” work that makes this season meaningful.
Key Council Highlights (from approved meeting minutes)
● Council Minutes Access for the Congregation
○ After discussion, the Council determined that posting minutes online may limit access for some members. Instead, approved minutes will be printed and placed in a binder in the library for congregational review.
● Lenten-Season Scheduling Adjustments
○ To accommodate Lenten services, Council meeting dates were adjusted. Please note that all congregational members are welcome to attend Council meetings:
■ February meeting: Tuesday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m.
■ March meeting: Thursday, March 26 at 7:00 p.m.
● Souper Bowl Fundraising (Serving Neighbors)
○ On February 8, Sunday School children will collect loose change and “quiet money,” and they will choose where the funds will be directed: B’ville Cares or Bee Full Pantry at Baker High School.
● Committee Reporting Going Forward
○ Council agreed that committee liaisons will coordinate with their chairs so that each month there is either:
■ a brief written report posted in Google Docs, or
■ an oral update given at the meeting.
Looking Ahead
As we continue through March and toward Holy Week and Easter, Council remains focused on:
● Supporting meaningful worship and congregational life during Lent
● Maintaining clear communication and responsible stewardship
● Encouraging participation and welcoming connections for all who enter our doors Thank you for your trust, your prayers, and your partnership in ministry.
Lent reminds us that God is always at work—transforming hearts, renewing community, and calling us forward in hope.
Respectfully submitted, Lea Ann
