Council Corner: June 2026

Dear Friends in Christ,

As we enter the summer season, I am reminded of the words from Psalm 74:17:

“It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth; you made both summer and winter.”

This verse is a reminder that each season is part of God’s design. Summer often brings a change of pace — a time for rest, reflection, fellowship, and renewal. As a church family, it is also an opportunity for us to give thanks for the work already accomplished and to look ahead with hope and purpose.

At our recent Council meeting, the April Council Meeting Minutes were approved. I would like to highlight a few key items from those minutes and recognize the ongoing work connected to them.

● The tech station build has been completed. This project is a wonderful improvement for worship support and church operations.

● Website updates are underway. Updated photos remain an ongoing need, and Council discussed the

possibility of recruiting a dedicated photographer from the congregation. This will help us better reflect the life, warmth, and ministry of St. Mark’s.

● Planning conversations are beginning for St. Mark’s 75th Anniversary. This milestone is a meaningful

opportunity to honor our history, celebrate the people who have shaped our church, and look ahead to the future of our ministry together.

● The summer picnic is scheduled for August 30 with the theme “Goodbye Summer – Hello Fall.”

● The Property Committee reported several updates, including the replacement of the water heater, the cleanup of the Memorial Garden, and plans for the Boy Scouts to assist with mulching. Council also continues to seek a company to clean the floors.

● We also want to recognize Lexi Quimby, who has resigned from her role as Sexton as she prepares to go to college. Her last day is June 13, and she will be recognized during worship on Sunday, June 14, for her service as Sexton and as a graduating senior. Council approved presenting.

As summer unfolds, I want to thank everyone who continues to serve St. Mark’s through leadership, committee work, worship support, fellowship, property care, outreach, and quiet acts of service. May this season be one of renewal, gratitude, and continued commitment to following Jesus, embracing all, and serving our neighbors.

Respectfully submitted,

Lea Ann Quimby

Council President, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church
