Council Corner: July 2025
Here we are…July 1st already! We’re halfway through 2025! How did that happen? So
far at St. Mark’s this year we’ve broken bread together at our Lenten soup suppers, we
sponsored the Spring Fling for Lutheran Campus Ministry, new St. Mark’s swag was
made available to us, our usual Outreach ministries continue to serve our community,
we’ve taken care of what God has entrusted to us in our property and finances, and our
new Giving Tree reminds us why our offering is important.
We certainly ended this first half of 2025 in a joyous way by celebrating together at our
recent picnic. What a fun gathering for everyone! As usual, there was plenty of food and
the fellowship was uplifting. We also celebrated with Tracy Hopkins as she retires as our
meal planner, chef and chief bottle washer for our community dinner ministry. Tracy has
been a good and faithful servant to this ministry for many years. We will surely miss her
expertise in the kitchen.
What will the second half of 2025 bring to St. Mark’s? Once again, I encourage you to
join Council members as we continue to read and reflect on Isaiah 43:18-19.. “Forget
the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs
up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the
wasteland.” This scripture reminds us that God is present here at St. Mark’s and He is
already doing a new thing. During conversations at our most recent Council meeting, we
began to see glimpses of this new thing God is doing and we ask for you to listen and
look for it too.
We invite you to join us in praying about what God has planned for us in the latter half of
2025 and how we might work together to bring His plan into being.
