Council Corner: April 2026
Dear Friends in Christ,
Happy Easter to you and your loved ones.
April brings us into one of the most joyful seasons of the church year. After our
journey through Lent, we now celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and the
hope Easter brings to our lives. In the risen Christ, we are reminded that God is
always at work bringing renewal, healing, and new life. Even in uncertain times,
Easter assures us that hope is real, grace is stronger than fear, and God is still
making all things new.
As we enter this Easter season, I also want to share a few highlights from recent
Council work. At our February meeting, we reflected on several meaningful areas
of ministry and congregational life. We are grateful to share that the Souper Bowl
Fundraiser raised $318.67 for the Baldwinsville Food Pantry, a wonderful example
of St. Mark’s continued care for our neighbors. Council also received an update
that the tech station build is in its final stages, with the hope that it will be
completed by Easter, supporting worship and ministry in important ways.
Council also discussed several practical matters related to church operations
and hospitality. We identified areas of the church website that need updating,
including the recommendation that service information be easier for visitors to
find on the homepage. Work is underway to compile those updates. In addition,
Council supported plans for the March 18 Lenten Soup Supper, with the free will
offering designated for GBAC, and continued conversations around property
care and volunteer support, especially related to winter sidewalk clearing and
safety around church entrances and exits.
Looking ahead, we are also excited that Missionary Pastor Brigette will be with us
on Sunday, April 19, to preside and preach, and to share a presentation after
worship about her missionary work in Germany. This will be a special
opportunity for our congregation to learn, connect, and celebrate the wider work
of the church.
As I reflect on all of this, I am thankful for the many ways God is working through
this congregation. Whether through worship, service, generosity, planning,
hospitality, or simply showing up for one another, each person helps make St.
Mark’s a place where Christ’s love is known and shared. Easter reminds us that
the life of the church is rooted not only in tradition, but in the living hope of the
resurrection.
May we carry the message of Easter beyond one Sunday celebration and into the
days ahead. May we be people who offer hope, extend kindness, and live with
joy. And may this season renew our faith as we continue serving God
together at St. Mark’s.
On behalf of the Church Council, thank you for your faithfulness and for all you
do to support the ministry of this congregation. Wishing you a blessed and joyful
Easter season.
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
Respectfully submitted, Lea Ann
